Extended (formerly referred to as Type 1.x) is a Constructed format consisting of the four most recent blocks and all core sets released during the period spanned by those blocks. With the exception of basic land cards (and Relentless Rats), a player's combined deck and sideboard may not contain more than four copies of any individual card, counted by its English card name (note: Snow-Covered basic lands are only permitted in formats that allow cards from Ice Age block constructed sets.) Extended rotates once per year with the introduction of a new block in the fall.

As of October 1, 2011 Extended currently consists of cards released in the following sets:

· Shards of Alara
· Conflux
· Alara Reborn
· Magic 2010 Core Set
· Zendikar
· Worldwake
· Rise of the Eldrazi
· Magic 2011 Core Set
· Scars of Mirrodin
· Mirrodin Besieged
· New Phyrexia
· Magic 2012 Core Set

Card Specific Issues and Notes

Volcanic Fallout / Great Sable Stag
  • Uncounterable cards such as Great Sable Stag and Volcanic Fallout can still be the target of counterspells. It is important to remember this as it is not a GRV unless the players allow the spell to be countered.

Emblems

Errata
  • Harm's Way received an Oracle wording change in late 2009 to alleviate possible confusion with the card. Here is the updated card text:
The next 2 damage that a source of your choice would deal to you and/or permanents you control this turn is dealt to target creature or player instead.
