Talk:Judge Article Index

Length

This page is too long. The wiki software consistently gives us warnings, and although my browser renders it properly, I'd like to take appropriate precautions to make sure it renders properly on all browsers. To that end, I have a couple of ideas:

  • Divide the index by year (possibly into subpages): e.g., Judge Article Index/2007, Judge Article Index/2008, etc. "Judge Article Index" could show the most recent year's, or provide links to all available years.
  • Convert all the tables to collapsible tables (by adding the command class="collapsible wikitable" to the start of the table)

The first option would split the index into multiple pages, which would reduce not only the length but the size. It adds a slight navigational burden to the user, but I think we can add some tools to make that negligible.

The second option would by default have all of the tables collapsed. It would work fine for users who are browsing, since they can easily click the "Show" link, but not so well for someone performing a Ctrl+F to find an article. On the other hand, the goal of the metadata project is to help judges find an article more readily. Either way, this doesn't reduce the size in kb of the page, which is what might make some browsers falter.

Any thoughts? --TashaJ 06:05, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
